Psychedelic reform: 3 more states file bills in 2023

Lawmakers in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Oklahoma have all put forward bills seeking to further psychedelic reform.

In Connecticut, Rep. Michelle Cook (D) file a bill that would legalize “the use of psilocybin for medicinal and therapeutic purposes, including, but not limited to, the provision of physical, mental or behavioral health care.”

In Massachusets, Sen. Patricia Jehlen (D) and Rep. Lindsay Sabadosa (D) introduced legislation that seeks to decriminalize the use of psilocybin, DMT, ibogaine, and mescaline for people 18 and older.

Lastly, Oklahama Rep. Daniel Pae (R) filed a narrower bill focused solely on psychedelic research. The legislation would allow universities and research facilities to study the therapeutic potential of psilocybin for treating conditions like depression, PTSD, dementia, traumatic brain injury, and substance use disorders, among others.
